First-edition 25-inch map (Staffordshire LXIX.1), 1880s. Every field of the future estate is numbered, with Kettle House, King's Standing and Kings Vale.

The first large-scale survey of the heart of Kingstanding, forty years before the estate. It shows Queslett and the Old Horns Inn, Pheasey Farm, Old Oscott with Oscott House, the orphanage and Manor House, Kettle House on the lane that became Kettlehouse Road, the King's Standing mound and King's Standing Lodge, Kings Vale and its pumping station, Perry Barr Common Farm and the Greyhound Inn on Holly Lane. Field numbers and acreages are printed on each parcel.

Notes

Commons file from the 'Map of Birmingham and its Environs' set (source: British History Online OS 1:2500 scans, sheet 069/01), dated 1884–1891. This fills the gap before the 1913 and 1937 editions of the same sheet already in the archive, making a three-stage sequence. The sheet has been trimmed to the map face (no margins).
