About Green Spaces
Kingstanding Green Spaces is a Kingstanding Together project for the parks, playing fields, woods and open spaces that give Kingstanding its breathing room. Our Landmarks & Heritage pages tell the story of these places; this project is about looking after them.
Green space has mattered here since the estate was built. In 1939, researchers studying Kingstanding found that families who had grown up in the crowded city centre “laid great store by their patch of grass”.
How we work
Kingstanding Together does not own or manage Kingstanding’s parks and open spaces. Our role is to support them: encouraging residents to care for them, organising community-led volunteer activity, working to protect them when they are under threat, and developing projects that could attract funding to improve them.
