I had a black metal money box, with a gilt handle from the Municipal Bank where I saved some of my pocket money in the 1950’s. It had to be taken to the bank to be opened and the money deposited.

I remember the Municipal Bank on Kingstanding Rd. In 1945 to 1948 I was in the RAF. I used to have part of my pay sent home to my mother who would deposit it in the Municipal Bank.

I remember going to the Royal Billiard Hall. Harrald Mosley was the gaffer and he had three snooker teams, A, B, and a C team. The A team were the best in team in Birmingham.

I attended Kingsland (Kingsland Road Infant and Junior School) from c1957 – 1963. I remember Mrs Aubruck, she was my first teacher, an elderly lady with grey hair and a grey beard. She was very kind.
