Mr Porter and David Mitchell (left of Mr Porter) during a maths lesson ca 1955

David Mitchell passed this photograph from his school days at Dulwich Road School to Voices of Kingstanding. Mr Porter taught maths at the boys’ secondary school.

Clement Watts, who was at the school from 1950 to 1954, remembers: “My last teacher was Mr Porter. What about his long legs. I dont know why he left us on our own but he used to go up stairs and we could hear him coming back thump thump thump on the ceiling so we all sat there nose in our work like good boys.”
