Henry and Marie Gill, comedy performers

The Gill’s

Their granddaughter wrote to Voices of Kingstanding looking for anyone who remembered Henry James Gill and Marie Yvonne Gill (née Owen), who lived on Beeches Road and later moved to Cranbourne Road in Kingstanding. They performed comedy theatre at clubs and associations in the area in the 1950s, and Marie also sang on stage.

She writes: “When I used to visit their house as a child I have very fond memories of seeing the costumes and props they used for their stage acts and also my grandma’s collection of glitzy dresses and shoes which she used to wear for when she performed.” The portraits show her grandparents “when they were much younger of course!!”
