Real-photograph postcard 'College Rd, Erdington' No. 5: new bay-fronted semis, young street trees and a long boundary wall, 1930s.

A quiet, newly widened College Road with a grass verge planted with saplings, tall lamp standards and telegraph poles. A row of 1930s bay-fronted semi-detached houses lines the left side; a high brick wall and mature trees line the right.

Notes

BMT catalogue: 'Postcard - College Road, Erdington, Birmingham, 1930-40' (1995V632.225). College Road was widened c.1929–31 (see the Library of Birmingham road-widening photos). The high wall on the right could be the boundary of the Witton isolation hospital or of Oscott College grounds; not confirmed. Houses look privately built rather than Corporation-built.
