The schoolhouse, first recorded in 1840. In 1841 the teacher Robert Baller lived here with his nine children.

An ivy-covered brick house with dormer windows and tall chimneys behind a hedge. At the right is a brick porch with a noticeboard for the parish church at Oscott.

Notes

From a local history book (title not recorded). Its caption says: the first reference to the building is in the index to the 1840 tithe map, and in 1841 it was tenanted by a professional schoolteacher, Robert Baller, and his family of nine children. The book's caption has been kept in this scan. This is probably the same school house on Shady Lane that appears in two 1938 photographs in the archive.
