A science class with Mrs Pocknell. Copyright Paul Hillcox.
Paul Hillcox writes on Voices of Kingstanding: “I was asked to photograph classes and teachers as part of a display in the main corridor of the school, I was in the 6th form at the time and involved in A level photography tutored by Mr Fitton one of the art teachers … it was taken in 1976 just before the summer holidays.”
Notes
The commenter recalls a “Mr Pocknal” teaching science; the Voices of Kingstanding caption names Mrs Pocknell.

Local memories
What people who knew this place have said about it, in their own words. These are memories, not checked facts.
“I went to KR from 1969 to 1974 … Mr Pocknal Science … Myself and Linda Susan Davis ended up on TV because of Mr Pocknal. We both dropped out of shorthand, and had to do a science project instead, he entered us in a science fayre at Birmingham Uni and there we were spotted by the Young Scientist of the year programme producers. Anyway we got to go to Pebble Mill.”
