Miss Woody on school trip to Amsterdam

From the collection of Phyllis Eastgate, who taught the senior girls at Peckham Road. Her great-niece Julie Eastgate recalls on Voices of Kingstanding: “My great aunt taught the senior girls and did indeed teach German (and was strict but nice). She was pretty good at German and would visit friends over there who were also teachers … They arranged pen-friends between their respective pupils.”

Julie Eastgate writes that these photos come from a school trip to Holland in 1954: “The group visited Amsterdam, Keukenhof and the Lisse flower festival.” She thinks Miss Woody appears in this picture.

Notes

Julie Eastgate is not certain that Miss Woody is in this picture (“I think”). An earlier caption named the teacher as “Phillis Seagate”, a misspelling of Phyllis Eastgate.
