May procession 1949.

One of the photographs “from the church archive” published on Voices of Kingstanding’s Christ the King page in November 2012, alongside a short history of the parish written for its eightieth anniversary. The page captions it “May procession 1949” and adds “Helen Casey crowned Our Lady”.

Local memories

What people who knew this place have said about it, in their own words. These are memories, not checked facts.

“I attended CTK school from 1950-1955, my biggest honour was to be the May Queen on the picture shown above in 1951, the little boy Kevin Ferris carried the crown on a satin cushion and I was attended by a John Oldacre and I think Annette Hirons,”
