Christ the King Catholic Church.

The short parish history reproduced on Voices of Kingstanding says the parish was founded by Fr Michael Byrne, who came to the new Kingstanding estate in 1932 and first said Mass in a parishioner’s house on College Road, then in the College Arms assembly room and Cranbourne Road School, before a wooden church was built.

Under Fr John Clancy a new church was built: its foundation stone was laid in April 1962 and the first service was Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve 1962. The church was formally consecrated on 28 April 1994.
