My name was Pauline Timson, I went to Dulwich road school, from 1947-1952. And following that (post 15yrs) I remained at school for two years as part of the very first pre nursing course to be held at the school. I finally left in1954 at age 17 to go into nursing
I remember Miss Ward as head mistress and teacher called Sugden who was a life long friend that I visited at home until she died in late 1970s. I remember Miss Harper the science teacher who was the one who encouraged me to take part in the pre nursing course and encouraged my parents to allow me to stay on and complete the pre nursing course instead of leaving school at 15 my father was originally against me becoming a nurse because in his experience nurses never marry or have children (how times have changed) I did however did go on to get married and have children and eventually became director of nursing services at east Birmingham hospital 1970s/1980s
