I lived on the Kingstanding Road almost opposite the police station next to doctor Trimble our house backed on to the gullies that ran along Hines Transport yard And came out into winterton road Hines Transport yard was bought by the Co-op I think?
Knights had another shop opposite the cycle shop Hines Transport was almost opposite the police station snooker was next door owned by the Royals who had a second snooker hall at Hawthorn rd. there was a little sweet shop next to Hines the Roses green grocery store then Austin’s Butchers I worked there for a couple of years as a apprentice 1958 then the Co-op butchers, the Co-op also bought Hines Transport land and built a new super store tunnel shape don’t know if it’s still there
