Submission Guidelines
What you can share, the rules that keep our community safe, and how moderation works.
This is Kingstanding is a community hub for Kingstanding, Oscott and Perry Common. Residents, community groups and local businesses can submit events, group listings, community notices and business listings for us to publish. These guidelines explain what we accept, the rules that apply, and how we moderate content so the site stays accurate, useful and safe for everyone. By submitting content you agree to follow them.
What can be submitted
- Local events open to the community.
- Community and voluntary group listings.
- Community notices and updates of genuine local interest.
- Listings for businesses serving our three areas.
- Photographs that you own or have permission to use.
Content should be relevant to Kingstanding, Oscott or Perry Common, accurate, and written in plain, respectful language. We do not accept spam, scams, hate speech, harassment, content that is unlawful, or anything that could put a person at risk.
Event submission rules
- Give a clear title, date, start and end time, and a real, accessible location (or a link if the event is online).
- Include a named organiser or group and a way for attendees to ask questions.
- Make any costs, age limits or booking requirements clear up front.
- Only submit events you are organising or have permission to promote.
- Events for children and young people must follow the safeguarding rules below.
Community group rules
- Provide a genuine group name, a short description of what you do, and a responsible contact point (a group email or role, not a child).
- Groups should be open, lawful and run for the benefit of the community.
- Keep your listing up to date and tell us if the group closes or your contact details change.
Community notice rules
- Notices must be of genuine local interest — for example road closures, consultations, lost and found, or appeals for help.
- Be factual and avoid rumour, naming individuals, or content that could identify or shame a private person.
- We do not publish notices that are purely commercial advertising, party-political, or that target an individual.
Business listing rules
- List a real business that serves Kingstanding, Oscott or Perry Common.
- Provide accurate contact details, opening hours and a fair description of what you offer.
- Do not make misleading claims, and make sure you hold any licences or registrations your trade requires.
- Business listings are free and subject to our separate business listing terms.
Image upload rules
- Only upload images you have taken yourself or have clear permission to use. Do not upload copyrighted images without a licence.
- Images must be suitable for a general audience — no graphic, offensive or explicit content.
- Do not upload images that show private information such as house numbers, vehicle registrations or documents.
- Images of children are covered by the safeguarding rules below.
Safeguarding rules
Keeping children and young people safe comes before everything else. The following rules are mandatory for all submissions, and we will edit or remove anything that breaches them:
- Do not publish children's personal details — including full names, ages, schools, home addresses, or anything that could identify or locate a child.
- Do not upload images of children without permission from a parent or guardian. Where a child can be identified, written consent must be in place before you submit the image.
- Youth events must include a responsible adult or group contact — a named organising adult or group, never a child, as the point of contact.
- No private home addresses for child-focused events unless that location is explicitly intended for the event and is safe and appropriate to publish.
- No direct contact details for minors — do not include a child's phone number, email or social-media handle as a contact.
- Admins may remove content at any time for safeguarding reasons, without notice, if we believe a child could be put at risk.
If you are worried that a child is in immediate danger, call 999. To raise a safeguarding concern about content on this site, contact us so we can review it urgently.
Content standards
We don't publish content that is unlawful, hateful, misleading, or that uses the site to attack a person, group or business. Civic information — such as how to contact your councillors, consultations and how to report local issues — is always welcome because it helps everyone.
Moderation process
Submissions are reviewed by our moderators before they appear. We aim to review content promptly, but please allow a few days, especially around weekends and holidays. We may approve content, ask you for changes, or decline it. We may also edit minor details (such as formatting or obvious typos) so listings are clear and consistent. Approved content can still be amended or removed later if circumstances change or a problem comes to light.
Why content may be rejected
- It is not relevant to Kingstanding, Oscott or Perry Common.
- It breaches the safeguarding rules above.
- It is party-political, misleading, or purely advertising.
- It is unlawful, offensive, discriminatory, or targets an individual.
- It infringes copyright or uses images without permission.
- It is spam, a scam, or duplicates existing content.
- It is incomplete or we cannot verify the details.
How to request corrections
If something we have published is wrong, out of date, or should be removed — including for safeguarding or privacy reasons — please tell us and we will look into it quickly. Use our request a correction form to let us know what needs changing and why.
